Incident report: Sliuchu

The Vigiles Amicae hereby declares the personas known as Sliuchu, Cleole, and Tirranne to be anathema. The wards are locked against them, and no move shall be made to stay the hand that is raised against them.

It is with sorrow that we report that this person was unable to abide by our Writ, and repeatedly expressed contempt for the substance and practice of the same. Every reasonable effort was made to educate Sliuchu regarding the nature of the Amicae, and the meaning of the Writ and Rules that guide us.

For fifteen days they were among us, but no more. The charges are as follows:

  • pressuring players for rp after they made clear they were busy
  • refusal to accept alternate times for rp or hunting
  • pressuring an officer of the council to move the guild resources without conference
  • seeking preferential treatment for a contribution of in-game money and status
  • seeking preferential treatment for creating enjin site unasked, and without approval
  • disrespect for players of silver membership
  • hostility to players of limited financial means
  • hostility toward an officer for their commitment to duty
  • hostility toward players who asked for empathy
  • repeated rejection of offered rp hooks and venues
  • disrespect for players' request for response to ongoing public story
  • refusal to abide the rp rules after claiming to have read and understood them
  • disrespect for the concept of the guild
  • disrespect for the Real Life obligations of members, officers, and other guilds
  • repeated rejection of players' right to ask that a subject be avoided or minimized in public channel, for any reason

A transcript of the prime offenses against the Amicae are attached below, for the review of any who would know how our Writ was trampled.

By the hand and will of the Praetor, Ariahdnia

Note:

This exile has been imposed for ooc transgressions only. However, due to the nature and severity of the transgressions, the player has been barred from our public IC spaces following his departure from the guild. Although the council does not recommend extended contact with this player, it is not forbidden.

Report: Taitos Erikson

Incident Report:

I was recently contacted by the aforementioned male human in regards to the Declaration. This is the same that sent out informants attempting to get my attention recently from Halas.

I set a meeting in Mara, with Vigiles Karrha and Foederatti Kerrath assigned as guards.

Taitos sought the veracity of my claims, and seems filled with fury that such a being as Marconis can exist.

His primary motivation seems to be justice.

I offered to welcome among the ranks, and he first reacted like he hadn't even considered allies. He accepted quite gladly. He has no oaths as yet to the Amicae.

I used my scape stone to pull us both to the hall and see to his room, as he had just gotten off the ship and went straight to waiting for me.

He has not yet asked about his friend in Maj'Dul.

Report: To the Council, Regarding potential ally of Marconis

Incident report
5 Blossoming in the Year of Fenin Ro in the Age of Veeshan
At:
Soulfire club
Regarding:
new meeting, Veset, a potential ally of Marconis
From:
Equites Amrunrosse

I attended the Soulfire Club initially as an official Priestess of Bristlebane on the night listed. It seems to have recovered from what hold the Great Prankster had on it, save there was a sentient Billy that wanted a story.

It was after the doll was sent away that a young, rough, androgynous woman joined me, commenting on being called Professor by Euryale. She said the Boss never used that title for me before.

The woman refused to reveal who the Boss was, and I employed a staff member of the Soulfire to assist in this.

Needless to say, I have only suspicion.

However, I did see the woman leave with a fae, and after explaining to the staff why I wanted to know who the Boss was, after some confusion, I found the fae was sibling of a sort to Koural, who is daughter to Ginneve. Also in attendance was Amaury and Vezzexx, a monk and Necromancer in training.

I lead the trio to the clinic listed as Veset's and stayed out of sight. The fae was recovered, though Koural seems to have been bespelled and claimed weakness and exhaustion. I had us retreat, still not learning who the Boss is.

We went back to their stronghold, where I gave some instruction to Vezzexx to attempt to heal Koural. I left before I could ensure she was fine, but the healing was going well.

Before leaving the Soulfire, I left word with Veset that I would await her Boss on Lucan's Mount. I am observing the area, and requesting back up in case it is as I fear.

Report: Undercover in the Order of the Rime

From the desk of Zer Sonantius Strigidae
Report for Praetor Ariahdnia Z'Ress
3 Stargazing, Fenin Ro, Age of Veeshan

Zer Praetor Ariahdnia Z’ress,

I address this report to you personally for fear of it falling into the wrong hands. Over the last five months, I have taken on a personal duty to infiltrate the Order of the Rime to gather evidence of its crimes and see to its downfall. I have spent a significant portion of that time deep undercover among their ranks in both Kunark and Velious, and have compiled quite a list of injustices against all the inhabitants, both native and immigrant, of those territories. My cover was recently blown as I moved through their ranks, and so I report to you now, seeking advice and aid in moving forward.

The Order employs brigands and vagabonds from all races, its ultimate goal being to bring about some kind of ice-bound apocalypse in which only the Order of the Rime and their warlord, an apparent half-ice-giant named Kraytoc Killingfrost, will be the survivors. Their magic is incredibly effective at chilling any climate, as evidenced by the deep freeze they have instituted in the northern areas of the Fens of Nathsar, an otherwise tropical region. (An injustice against nature itself, in my opinion, to change a climate so drastically.) To bring about their goals, they seek powerful magical artifacts and also seek to sway or enslave any being whose powers might be used toward their ends.

I was motivated to infiltrate them when I discovered from the coldain of Velious that the Order of the Rime was capturing and enslaving the local ice and wind elementals for use in their nefarious plots against other races. As I am sure you are aware, most such nature elementals are indeed sentient beings (if a bit alien to corporeal persons such as ourselves), and as such, I felt this was a grave injustice to be addressed as swiftly as possible. I resolved that the best way to accomplish this would be from within the organization, where I could collect records of the unwilling enslavement of sentient creatures like the elementals to bring as evidence before the powers of Norrath. Ultimately, I did find this evidence, and so much more.

To gain access to the Order, I first enlisted the aid of the Rilissian Iksar of Kunark, who are attempting to use the chaotic presence of the Rime in their lands to their own ends. Ultimately, the Rilissians provided me with a quite effective disguise, and I was subsequently able to pose as an enlisted soldier of the Order of the Rime.

Most of my activities while undercover in Kunark were of a logistical nature, acquiring and transporting food and supplies for their camps and armies. They are largely extremely poorly organized in this aspect: there seems to be little or no standardization or rationing among the troops, and as such, all three of their largest camps in Kunark are in need of constant resupply. My other duties with the Rime in Kunark tended toward sabotage: destroying or tainting supplies of other, native factions in the areas they were operating in. I am conflicted about these tasks, as some of them required or resulted in unjust violence against local populations. My only rationalization is that these orders were assigned to many soldiers of the Rime, they would have been carried out regardless of my presence, and the orders gave me further opportunity to gather evidence of the crimes of the Order. I have written records of these orders and others to other Rime soldiers which should be strong evidence against them.

The Order's main goal in Kunark is the acquisition of ancient, powerful artifacts; a goal which aligns well with the Rilissian warlord Dominus Rile's goal of reconquering his ancestral homelands. The Rilissians are using the Rime as first wave shock troops in their campaign, and the Rime is hopeful of using this front line position to claim powerful artifacts. Both factions fully intend to betray each other as soon as their goals are accomplished.

After sufficient time in Kunark, I was promoted to service in Velious. I contacted the coldain to explain the work I had already done and the evidence I had collected. They enthusiastically encouraged me to continue my deep cover work, even if it meant acting against coldain interests to maintain my cover. My investigation proceeded similarly as before, though the Order in Velious is much more highly organized than in Kunark. Very little of my service there involved resupply as before, and tended much more toward sabotage and thinning the ranks of coldain defenders, both directly and by reducing coldain morale. Every new assignment provided new records and new evidence of injustice against the natives of Velious, though again I remain conflicted about my participation. The administration of Thurgadin have legally absolved me of action against them in light of the information I have provided them. My only hope is that the evidence I have brought to them might aid them in bringing the Order to final justice.

The ultimate goal of the Order of the Rime in Velious seems to be the enslavement of the dragon Yelinak. They believe that the ancient and powerful being will be key in bringing about their frozen apocalypse.

In discovery of this goal, I worked closely with their commander in Velious, a sage and mystic of the Order named Grand Restorer Lingwal. Unfortunately, his considerable clerical abilities permitted him to see through my disguise, but he did not reveal his discovery of my deception until after I had already completed my assignment of disabling the dragon Yelinak's coldain honor guard.

This is the point at which I request aid and advice. My cover is blown, and the Order of the Rime still moves freely in Velious. Though I doubt the Order actually has the resources available to reach the dragon Yelinak and defeat it, it may soon. The Order of the Rime in Kunark has managed to open a chamber in the ruined city of Charasis called the Emperor’s Athenaeum. Within, they expect to acquire artifacts, or evidence of such, allowing them to enslave a being as mighty as Yelinak. As such goals are reprehensible, it is of utmost importance that a group of seasoned explorers including myself enter the Athenaeum and retrieve these artifacts before the Order can get them. Tracking down and preventing access to any resources which might allow the Order’s true goals to continue is likely to be of high importance in the future of Norrath.

small items such as glue and paint,
and sums spent on chariots and armor

Preliminary report on ocular mechamagical detection to Vigiles Amicae Council

The lands of Velious have been fraught with altered beasts and plants. In response to that and other interesting phenomena, I have worked with gnomes stranded in the region to produce a set mechamagical field ocular observers. The basic design and function draft will be included on the schematics included. The purpose has been to observe the magical field resonance theorized to surround all things and support their natures.

Initial findings have been intriguing.
As hypothesized, magicka flows through things in accordance with the material of a thing. The field of the coldain is different than the field of velium, for instance.
The surprise came in with the discovery that the state of a thing also influences the field. A mage casting passive spells has a different effect from casting active spells has a different effect from doing nothing magical at all.

The small sampling of tests indicates that there is many similarities, and cataloging them will permit understanding the field theory better. For now, however, the oculars do not permit the wearer to easily distinguish the mundane ground from the air easily, so testing has only stayed in controlled environments.

Note: a fatal flaw was intentionally left in the schematic.
I deemed this appropriate to reduce the risk of intentional interception. Chevanima should be able to decipher it. Let the unit function for one quarter of a mark to ensure it works properly before use.

Report: on Othmir and Gnoll tribes of Velious

Archivist's note:
In the wake of the council decision to recall the Exile, a number of sealed reports have been cleaned and released for the edification of all Amicae. Taken together, these documents provide a competent training module in preparation for assignment to the sector.

- - -

Eyes-Only: Vigiles Amicae council

The Othmir are a semi-aquatic mammalian species that seems to have close kinship with otters. They are playful, intelligent, and compassionate.

The first contact to be had with the Othmir occurred on the Maj'Dul docks after their god-turtle decided to take a trip. It is unknown why this may have been, though further contact reveals this god-turtle Logdrizal plays a key feature of their religion.

The second contact is typically with a sub-tribe after their god-turtle consents to carry you to Velious. This is notable because of the unknowable nature of the turtle and no one in recent history but the Othmir priests have had any direct contact with the turtle.

Upon arrival, you are greeted by the elder Nipik and several delegates of the sub-tribe. Nipik is the oldest Othmir of the known tribes and is their religious leader. It is through him that Logdrizal speaks.

Further travel reveals that the Othmir are in conflict with gnolls. Rather than wage war, the Othmir are purely defending their area. The defenders report that the gnolls are unorganized and mad - further research conducted at the behest of the Othmir reveal that the gnolls are starving and do not know how to care for themselves.

In an unmatched show of compassion, the Othmir teach the gnoll tribe how to make hunting equipment, traps, how to tend game, how to cook, and how to prepare pelts to trade to the Othmir for fish. The sub-tribe Othmir show a clear dedication to knowledge, love, and mutual benefit beyond their species for the better survival of all.

The Othmir were not content with this, and with the cooperation of the gnolls sought the original problem. The gnolls had been subject to a local vampire, and had little to work with when they began breaking free. With few resources, they were engaged by minions if the vampire for the dare to leave service.

The influence of the vampire is strong, as are their forces. It would be in the interest if the Othmir and gnolls and all freedom-seeking species to unseat the power.

Once establishing good relations and being welcomed to the sub-tribe, you learn of a second tribe of Othmir. Where the first is living on an iceberg, the second holds a beach. This group seems to be a cultural center to counterpoint the religious center on the ice.

Here, the Othmir are being actively attacked by an amphibious race called the Yha-Lei. The Othmir again are playing a defensive role, and do not know why they are being attacked. This is where it becomes important on why the wording of 'recent memory' is apparent.

The young Othmir only know that Othmir kept to Othmir and Yha-Lei kept to Yha-Lei. There is only one Othmir who can recall anything being different, and was a part of a delegation that tried to make peace between the tribes. When the talks failed, it was never mentioned to the rest of the Othmir.

The Othmir do not pass down their history. Knowledge and how to do things is transferred as with all cultures, though there seems to be an idea that each generation should have a fresh start at the world. This seems to permit peace with old enemies, as no grudges are kept, though for long-lived races such as elves, visits would need to be frequent to maintain friendships and alliances.

There is one incongruous fight that the Othmir engage in. The Kromzek giants that wage war on all is an open target to the Othmir, though they prefer to hamper foresting operations by stealing axes and destroying supplies rather than going after the giants and their subordinates directly. The giants seem to either not know about the Othmir or find them insignificant. This is incongruous from the Kromzek standard of perpetual war and domination of all they contact, indicating they do not know of the otter-like people or, more probably, are why the Yha-Lei are attacking.

Further study on the Yha-Lei has been impossible, though more is bound to turn up.

Report: On Mara

It must first be noted that the first contact with Mara was by the Far Seas Trading Company. The Marans are untrusting of large entities and prefer to work by means of liaisons. Their concern is valid, as their second contact was by treasure-seekers.

The second item of note is that the Marans seem to be human. However, their life span is far longer than the average human, and their young grow at a much slower rate. Their recorded history alludes to an elven ancestor that came to live among them and shaped their culture greatly. It can be assumed, but never stated, that this visitor was quite amorous.

While not quite xenophobic, they are not far from it and talks with them need to be undergone carefully.

Three main houses comprise Maran society. They each have a specialty and a simmering feud with the other houses. They are Nurwin--- specializing in carpentry and agriculture, Augren --- specializing in jewelry and sagecraft, and Ventur--- tailoring. Ruling these is the Whistling Fist Clan martial art academy and historical depository.

While the trade organizations are more than happy to let the Marans export their goods rather than learn to make it in-house, the more secular powers concerned with physical prowess seek to learn the Whistling Fist style. The Marans are quite content to play each off the other and teach no one their secrets. For those concerned, their style is a mixture of monk-like pugilism and bardic abilities. Due to the limited elven heritage in their blood, they do not enjoy much in the way of a better snap or density to their musculature.

Marans are traditionalists, with elders as the most vocal and most benefited group. There are significant leanings that discourage creativity and wanderlust, as well as a desire to obscure their history to outsiders and their young. The concern of pirates is high given what history they are trying to conceal.

In their past, they sought higher understanding and knowledge. They encountered the Nizara, a race that is something like a Naga and a Centaur with a snake-like body and humanoid torso and head. These creatures are quite powerful both physically and magically. They live in a magically built lair that cannot be reached physically, and a portal must be utilized.

Far inland on the Maran island is a lake with a rock protruding from it. Swimming the depths are relatively safe, as there is only normal aquatic life living there. The sunken structure is quite large and seems to be carved of the stone rather than laid. It is in the depths of this that the Marans built their research catacomb and temple. Their initial contacts with the Nizara promised to lead to greater knowledge.

The Nizara never intended to give this, of course, and sought an anchor to Norrath. The Marans were betrayed. The Marans have only one hero besides their elven ancestor. I conjecture that it is he that sealed the Nizara, and probably he that sunk the temple to ensure the Nizara would not be released again.

To gain favor with the Marans, I recommend working with the Far Seas Trading Company. Most of their contacts begin with the younger Marans, who are thrilled to have something new come to their world. Even if this does not gain immediate access to the ranking elders, at the least elders die and kids grow to take their place.

Campaign: Treasonous Stars - Incident Report

The Vigiles Amicae hereby declares the persona(s) known as:

Folodu Amrunrosse

among other possible aliases, to be anathema.

The wards are locked against her, and no move shall be made to stay the hand that is raised against her, should she rebell against her proper discipline.

It is with sorrow and rage that we report the former Vigiles Captain Amrunrosse was unable to abide by our Writ, and repeatedly expressed contempt for the substance and practice of the same. Despite her years of loyal service and numerous victories, Amrunrosse has made the irrevocable choice to seize control of the Amicae during a time of war, for her own personal gain, and disarm the very writ upon which we all depend.

That the former Captain Amrunrosse has heretofore been employed in the gathering of intelligence and destabilization of evils which would threaten the Amicae is insufficient case for the profligate violations of our writ which have accumulated to her name.

The convened Courts Martial has found Amrunrosse guilty of the following charges:

  • holding a sworn Amicae in bondage without due process of law
  • authorizing the use of deadly force beyond the measure of civilized warfare
  • claiming the mantle of Praetor without proper Council affirmation
  • threatening a faithful healer among the Amicae
  • striking an officer of the Amicae with intent to cause grievous harm
  • imposing her will against an officer of the Amicae outside of the direction of a healer
  • sabotage and vandalism of Amicae holdings
  • fraternization with a superior officer
  • abuse of her power over the soldiers in her charge
  • seeding of dissent and faction rivalry within the Amicae
  • suspension of the rights and laws of the Amicae
  • disbanding the Council which sacred duty is to check the power of the Praetor

We therefore on this Sixth day of Stargazing in the Year of the Triumvirate in the Era of the New Combine, declare Folodu Amrunrosse a traitor to the Amicae and to the Praetor to which she owed her loyalty. If she refuse the sentence of Exile to the far Velious isles as enumerated by the Council and Courts Martial, any hand then be raised against her.

By my will and hand, Praetor Ariahdnia z'equidaii Chath do'Trinae, Hero of Maj Dul
By my will and hand, Legate Bellum Fafnier Brangwyn
By my will and hand, Legate Pax Sytan Fiac
